INSERT Command in MySQL

Sample Database Used in this Tutorial,

CREATE TABLE Test (
cus_No INT(4) NOT NULL PRIMARY KEY,
cus_Name VARCHAR(40),
cus_Address VARCHAR(40),
cus_Tel INT(10)
);

The upcoming sections examine each of the three INSERT variations in turn.

The INSERT … VALUES … variation

The syntax for such an INSERT statement is

INSERT [LOW_PRIORITY | DELAYED] [IGNORE]
[INTO] tbl_name [(col_name,...)]
VALUES (expression,...),(...),...
INSERT INTO Test
(cus_No,cus_Name,cus_Address,cus_Tel) VALUES
(1,'Nuwan','Kurunegala',0372222222);

Another method for inserting values into a table is to separate them with a comma in the same INSERT statement.

INSERT INTO Test VALUES
(2,'Mouly','Kurunegala',0373333333),
(3,'Dilhani','Kurunegala',0374444444);

The INSERT … SET … variation

INSERT INTO Test SET
cus_Address='Kandy',cus_Tel=0812111111;

The INSERT … SELECT … variation

INSERT INTO Test (cus_No) SELECT personID
FROM persons;

Welcome to Android

Introduction :

Android OS is a Linux-based platform for mobile phones. Android was released under the Apache v2 open source license.

Android was developed by Google and the Open Handset Alliance (OHA), a coalition of hardware, software and telecommunications companies. More than 30 companies were involved in the OHA, including Qualcomm, Broadcom, HTC, Intel, Samsung, Motorola, Sprint, Texas Instruments and Japanese wireless carriers KDDI and NTT DoCoMo.

Android began its life as a Palo Alto-based startup company, founded in 2003. That company was subsequently acquired by Google in 2005. The Android platform includes an operating system based upon Linux, a GUI, a Web browser and end user applications that can be downloaded. Although the initial demonstrations of Android featured a generic QWERTY smartphone and large VGA screen, the operating system was written to run on relatively inexpensive handsets with conventional numeric keypads.

Android Versions :

Android also keeps releasing a new OS Update once in every 6 months. Since its modest version 1.0 in September 2008 to the most awaited version Ice-cream sandwich.

The Cupcakes version 1.5 experimented with capturing videos through the inbuilt camera and enabled sharing it with your friends on YouTube and Picasa.

The next version 1.6 – Donut came with the voice search and voice dial enhancements.

The next update of OS was Éclair OS 2.0/2.1. This enhancement saw a lot of improvements and additional features over its previous versions.

the Froyo OS 2.2 released in May 2010 is by far the most used and most popular version of Android OS.

The December 2010 released Gingerbread OS 2.3/2.4 is yet to catch up in its market presence

The last OS released of late (22Feb 2011) was Honeycomb OS 3.0 SDK. This is the first ever tablet only release of Android and has opened the Pandora box for the non-Apple manufacturers!
